Role Overview: Medical Director
The Medical Director will provide clinical and operational leadership for post acute care services in Portsmouth, VA. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to influence care delivery, mentor clinical staff, and partner with facility leadership to improve resident outcomes. The successful candidate will oversee quality and compliance, foster multidisciplinary collaboration, and support initiatives that enhance patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic clinical leadership and vision for medical services across assigned facilities
Ensure delivery of high quality, patient centered care in post acute and long term care settings
Collaborate with nursing and facility leadership to develop and implement clinical policies and protocols
Lead quality improvement activities, monitor clinical performance metrics and implement corrective action as needed
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards and best practice guidelines
Support multidisciplinary care planning, participate in case reviews and provide physician mentorship
Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for accurate documentation, reporting and continuity of care
Provide timely medical oversight for acute clinical changes and escalation decisions
Qualifications and Required Skills
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board?certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or related specialty
Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license and current DEA registration
Proven clinical experience in post?acute, long?term care, geriatrics or a related field preferred
Previous leadership or medical director experience desirable
Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills
Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and evidence?based practice
Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record systems
