Additional Information About the RoleThe Surgical Progressive Care Unit (163PCU) is a 19-bed unit that provides monitoring and treatment of adult surgical patients. Patients may include any surgical patient who does not require ICU level care, but who requires a higher level of critical care than is provided on a general nursing division. This can include post-operative complications, sepsis, respiratory distress, vasopressor/antihypertensive management, insulin gtt management, antiarrhythmic medication management, and other conditions requiring frequent monitoring/intervention.
