Job Summary:
The Follow-Up Lead supervises the initiation of collection calls to payers, patients, doctor's offices and employers on assigned accounts to obtain payment. Oversees obtaining necessary information for submission to payers for payment of claims.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining an appropriate amount of accounts receivable by consistent follow-up on billed accounts to ensure timely payment. Resolve difficult reimbursement issues to ensure customer satisfaction and prompt payment. Review of trail balance for aging accounts, implement and track collections process. *Prepare and/or produce selected A/R reports required by management or payers, including but not limited to credit balance reports and unbilled claims reports. Monitor payments for accuracy with payer contractual obligations to alert the Follow-Up Supervisor of outstanding issues or trends impacting accounts receivables. Understand changes in the contracts that allow for an analysis and calculating payment and contractual amounts on remittance from payers. Assists Follow-Up Supervisor with managing the work schedules, time off requests, and supply requisitions. Assists Follow-Up Supervisor with training new hires. Assists Follow-Up Supervisor with staff performance management and corrective actions. Responsible for overseeing production at the team level. Effectively uses automated systems to perform work assignments. Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Two years of experience in hospital billing, follow up or collections experience preferred, EPIC experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of collections management. Understanding of reimbursement methodologies, terms and billing requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends in managed care and familiarity working with contracts and payment rules. Must have demonstrated expertise in insurance, managed care and federal and state coverage.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalency required; Associate's degree preferred.
