The Palliative Care Physician is an employed physician who provides medical care and treatment for the patients served by Empath Health.  Provides physician direction and guidance to the palliative care program to assure the maintenance of quality care for patients and families.  Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meeting, provides symptom control expertise, and performs clinical visits in the home or any inpatient setting. Serves as an educator and researcher of palliative care – both internally and externally – and is a mentor for the Palliative Care team.

• Education and/or Experience:  MD or DO from an accredited medical school.  2 years of experience in hospice or palliative care; or equivalent experience
• Licensure:  Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida, or ability to obtain before starting
• Active DEA license
• Certifications: Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.  Board certification in your primary specialty as well as board certification in hospice and palliative medicine required 
• Knowledge and experience in palliative medical practice and symptom management
• Valid Florida driver’s license and automobile insurance as per agency policies 
• Ability to make clinic/home/hospital/facility visits 
• Basic keyboarding and computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word or comparable programs
