Kaiser Permanente-Washington Permanente Medical Group is seeking a full-time 1.0 FTE Healthcare Analyst to join our WPMG HQ team in Renton, Washington.

As a member Data & Analytics group, the Data Systems Analyst provides analytical services to support strategies and initiatives of the medical group in their administration and clinical operations. Responsible for navigating the wealth of internal and external data resources and developing actionable and insightful information for WPMG senior executives, physician leaders, and health plan business partners in the delivery of high quality and value patient care and services.
At the direction of Senior Analysts or the Director of the group, analysts will implement data solutions designed to meet specific strategic imperatives of the organization. The analyst will prepare dashboards and reports, provide analytical interpretation of their findings. This position is part of a high functioning centralized data, analytics and reporting work team that collaborates with other matrix business and project management functions in consultation to executive team, operational leaders, and health plan colleagues. It is critical for position to be highly organized with the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with others.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct timely and relevant analytics in support of business partners/leaders to identify opportunities, highlight strengths and opportunities to meet business strategies, objectives, and goals. Creates and maintain data visualizations that educate, inform, and engage business partners on key metrics and performance measures.
Participation in data product development from conceptual design and definition of variables through to translation of specific business issues and questions into appropriate functional, technical, and analytic designs.
Responsible for developing presentations and communication resources to share findings in an understandable and actionable manner tailored to audience and customer's needs.
Establishes strong, supportive, effective and value-added relationships with assigned business partners. Communicates status of work plans, progress, findings and interpretations effectively with a continual focus on educating and developing analytic capability of business customers and the organization overall.
Develop deep domain knowledge on KPWA and WPMGs data systems and platforms related to general medical group business, clinical service line activities and provider/clinician services (content focus area).
Collaborates with enterprise data warehouse, data governance, clinical informatics and business teams on any issues relating to data quality, architecture or structure of data repositories impacting analytics.
Maintenance of our own stored procedures, tables, and ETL processes supporting our internal Teradata data lab.

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, informatics, mathematics, statistics or related fields.
Or 2 years of BI report development, coding, and data validation in lieu of a degree.

2 or more years working in an analyst role in a health care environment in direct support of business operations. Demonstrated experience & success in:
1. Using SQL or SAS to query, extract, and analyze large data sets
2. Creation of Tableau visualizations which enable meaningful business decisions to be made.
3. Understanding what information is most valuable to advance clinical and business performance
4. Ability to communicate findings back to leaders and key contributors by explaining/interpreting analytics in a language our business leaders can easily understand.
5. Knowledge of basic statistics and statistical interpretation of quantitative data.
Experience & proficiency with systems used at KPWA:
Epic Clarity tables related to patient encounters, claims, and schedules.
Experience developing training programs for business users in analytics and interpretation of statistical measures.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge:Areas of specialty or expertise (e.g., intermediate knowledge of research methodology and data collection modalities)
Skills:Abilities needed to execute job duties (e.g., advanced writing and documentation skills
Experience in using SQL or SAS to manipulate data from very large data sets.
Understanding of data warehousing, relational databases.
Experience in the creation of dashboards using BI visualization tools such as Tableau.
Knowledge of clinical data and terminology, such as CPT or ICD codes, claims processes
Ability to follow described analytic methodologies and approaches to generate value, address a broad range of operational and performance issues, execute the analysis in a timely, accurate and reliable manner, communicate findings clearly and concisely to diverse business leaders, key contributors and stakeholders.
Participate in designing and interpreting analyses of data, providing recommendations in support of critical business decisions
Demonstrated proficiency with quantitative analytic methodologies, basic statistics, data reporting and business intelligence tools.
Strong organization skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work, with the proven ability to work independently in a complex, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in working effectively in a team environment as well as communicating and interacting effectively with all level of staff/management within and outside of the organization.
Experience in the creation of VBA macros within Microsoft Office products.
Proficiency with SAS, creation of macros, interaction with external APIs.
Experience with Epic Clarity tables related to patient encounters, claims, and schedules.
Experience maintaining databases within the Teradata environment.
