Learn more. Summary This position is for a full-time Hospitalist and involves direct patient care for residents in the 225 bed Community Living Center (CLC) and Mental Health Units. Candidate must possess commitment to patient care and take an active role in providing quality medical service. The St. Cloud VA Healthcare System promotes a collaborative atmosphere where physicians work with a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals including nursing, pharmacy, social work, psychology, chaplaincy, and other providers to meet the needs of Veterans and families served by these programs. Responsibilities: Deliver care to Veterans in the medical center during all hours. Will also rotate into the service during regular weekday tours when not covering nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Will make rounds on the wards, check on the condition of seriously ill patients, and those requiring procedures such as suicidal observation. Respond to emergency situations/codes throughout campus. Function independently as a member of the Medical Staff with full clinical privileges. Be accessible and available to in-house staff for consultation on complex cases. Coordinate hand-off communication after hours. Manage transfers into and out of the facility. Ensure direct patient care is clinically necessary, appropriate, safe, timely, evidence-based, and patient-centered. Assume complete professional responsibility for clinical assessments, patient-care decisions, and documentation. Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other Rehabilitation and Extended Care providers through periodic chart reviews. Act as a surrogate for absent Hospitalists when needed, to include review of CPRS view alerts, and other duties as assigned. Regularly attend the provider meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings. A full-time provider is required to work a minimum of 80 hours per pay period. Typical work hours will be shift work and vary from week to week. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy.
