The Associate Chief of the Mental Health Service Line is an exciting opportunity to oversee clinical/administrative management of more than 30 programs of a high-performing system of mental health care providing a spectrum of services within a collaborative culture. It includes responsibility for all operations within a large service line; maintaining/ improving clinical performance and optimal Veteran experience of care; and working closely with leadership both within and outside of the MHSL. This incumbent reports administratively and professionally to the Chief of Psychiatry and reports programmatically to leaders in the assigned program. The Chief of Psychiatry, Chief of Mental Health Service Line, and program leaders work jointly in establishing priorities and resolving conflicts. Duties include clinical, administrative and supervisory and research management, either directly or through delegated authority. A Psychiatrist of the Mental Health Service Line at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois has the following primary functions: Treatment: by offering psychiatric treatment to veteran patients, providing assessments and interventions which are appropriate to the needs of the veteran, to supervise and educate psychiatric residents and medical students, to attend appropriate administrative meetings, to serve as the on-call psychiatrist, to coordinate with other providers to effectively facilitate services, comply with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g. entering diagnostic and procedure codes). On-call duties include rotating daytime consultation to the ED patients, occasional weekend coverage, and rotating weekday evening phone coverage. Support the mission of the VA: by ensuring the highest quality of care for our veterans by assisting in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects, to monitor the effectiveness of clinical programs. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Comply with Mental Health peer review procedures. Participates in other committee assignments as instructed. Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
