This vacancy announcement is for a full-time outpatient Psychiatrist within the Mental Health Service of the Albany Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albany, NY. If selected, you will provide a full range of outpatient psychiatric services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in that setting, but also in team arrangements, depending on the needs of the service. You will provide comprehensive mental health services with the highest level of care and compassion to our Veterans. You will be expected to exhibit leadership and team building skills, contribute to program development and educational initiatives, and completes requisite training so as to maintain competence with technological improvements related to patient care. You will develop and maintain effective working relationships with other clinicians, residents, management, and ancillary staff. Your basic responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: · Clinically active in outpatient services, including walk-ins. Integrated responsibilities including coverage of medical/surgical consultation, coverage of inpatient services, compensation and pension services, emergency room care, and geriatric services. Provides active supervision and teaching for Albany Medical Center psychiatric residents and other trainees as needed. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and outcome data initiatives. Providing patient and family health education with a focus on self-management, prevention and wellness based on the patients goals. Provision of Telepsychiatry services as needed.
