The VA Medical Center located at Tucson Arizona is the "Flagship" for the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), which serves over 170,000 veterans located in eight counties in Southern Arizona and one county in Western New Mexico. This 295-bed hospital provides training, primary care and sub-specialty health care in numerous medical areas for eligible Veterans. The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) professional staff is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgeon to provide quality service in our progressive, innovative health care system for our Veteran hospital population. SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Therefore, the selected candidate must be eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona. Duties include but are not limited to: Performs a wide array of open and endovascular procedures with emphasis on complex revisional surgery, limb salvage, carotid endarterectomy, aortic aneurysm repair, and AV (arteriovenous) access. Provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing examinations, surgical consultation, and developing treatment and follow-up plans. Provides ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment. Assists in teaching residents and fellows Preferred Experience: Board eligible or board certified in both vascular and general surgery. Excellent teaching abilities as demonstrated by teaching awards and documented teaching activities during training or in practice. Robust academic abilities as demonstrated by recent publications within the field of vascular surgery Experience working in VA either during training or in practice. Experience with systems improvement and quality assurance as demonstrated by committee involvement or publications. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 0730 - 1600 or 0800-1630, on call coverage required Telework: This position is not suitable for telework.
