The incumbent will carry an appropriate clinical workload, take part in continuing medical education (as defined by licensure), and will be involved with quality assurance and performance improvement activities. Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Clinical: The incumbent will work primarily as an Outpatient Psychiatrist serving on a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assessment, psychopharmacological interventions, psychotherapy, and specialty services as appropriate to the qualifications of the incumbent. Incumbent must possess strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, general medical conditions that relate to psychiatric conditions, ordering of labs and x-rays as related to treatment of psychiatric conditions and general conditions that may impact psychiatric treatment, ability to formulate treatment plans and work closely with other treatment team members, and preliminary treatment and referral of substance abuse is expected. Although the primary clinical duties are performed on an outpatient basis, BHIP Psychiatrists are expected to participate in rotating on-call coverage with other providers. Psychiatrists shall be available for emergency mental health interventions, including judicial commitment, consultation-liaison, and emergency psychiatric interventions, if needed. Teaching: Provide guidance to rotating Residents and Medical Students on rotation from University of Kansas, School of Medicine. Skills needed would be to lead, give direction, provide knowledge, skills and abilities in the Psychiatry field. Administrative: Completes encounters/examinations in a timely manner.
