VAMC Coatesville is seeking applications for a General Practice Dental Officer to performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, or preventive measures within its Dental Service Line. Pay Schedule: The salary range listed in this announcement is a Base-Line Salary range $108,645.00 to $175,267.00 Per Year for a full-time work schedule. Education & length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay). Appointment type: Multiple Appointment Types - Permanent and Temporary Appointments may be available. Work schedule: Multiple Schedules - Full-Time, Part-Time and/or Intermittent schedules may be available. Work Schedule: A variety of work schedules are available; Work schedule will be determined upon selection. NOTE: May be expected to work rotating weekends and holidays. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 49-54 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 10 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The General Dentist dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services in Inpatient and outpatient settings.Duties and Responsibilities of the Dentist include, but are not limited to: Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performs regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establishes a plan for better dental hygiene Performs dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and fills cavities Corrects bite issues and overcrowding Applies helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whiteners Prescribes medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics Gives clients sedatives or anesthesia prior to administering treatments Orders diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc. Uses tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth Keeps records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them Manages and communicates with other staff members to provide care to patients The Dentist must maintain his or her professional qualifications, participate in customer service training, computer training, and attend to mandated medical center training, including BLS. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Demonstrates courtesy, respect, and a positive attitude toward all stakeholders. Has the knowledge and skill to assist customers with questions or concerns. Understands the importance of and participates in service recovery. AGE, DEVELOPMENT, CULTURAL NEEDS OF PATIENTS: Recognizes the need and modifies care as necessitated by patient's age and abilities. Has the ability to provide accurate and understandable instructions to patients. Understands the importance and is compliant with participating in patient identification and time-out processes. Has the ability to recognize patient signs of physical distress and monitors the patient's condition during treatment.
