University of California, Irvine Health (UCI Health) seeks a progressive, seasoned, and experienced physician executive to serve as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This senior physician leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of world class clinical performance and patient safety while serving as a clinical strategist for UCI Health and future delivery settings.
Located in one of the country's most desired destinations, UCI Health is dedicated to both discovery and treatment. With 418 acute care beds, UCI Medical Center consistently ranks among America's best hospitals, recognized for excellence in patient care, quality, and safety. An adjacent state-of-the-art facility, UCI Health Irvine Medical Campus, is set to open with top tier ambulatory facilities in 2022 and a 144 inpatient bed tower in 2025.
The CMO, in collaboration with the senior leadership team and clinical chairs, will be responsible for setting and implementing a bold innovative agenda for excellence in clinical service. The CMO is responsible for care delivery and the efficient management of clinical resources to deliver high quality patient care that leads to advancement in recognized third-party benchmarking agencies, including but not limited to CMS, Leapfrog, US News & World Report, and Vizient. With the rapid expansion of UCI Health, the CMO will play a vital and collaborative role in setting the strategy to fully operationalize new care delivery programs including virtual platforms such as the virtual inpatient program.
The successful candidate will be adept in the navigation of complex academic health systems with considerable knowledge and experience in clinical operations, quality, patient experience, and safety and their intersection with the business of healthcare. This leader will earn the respect of colleagues through professional achievement, servant leadership, and promotion of a collegial environment.
A Doctor of Medicine degree is required (MD/DO) and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program in a medical specialty with current Board Certification. While not required, active engagement in clinical practice is encouraged. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business related field is preferred.
