Reporting to UMMC Chief Nursing Officer, this position has director level leadership of the Critical Care departments on the East and West Banks of UMMC directing nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance, and other operational accountabilities. Critical care units include: surgery/neuro/trauma ICU, CVICU, med surg ICU, step down ICU and medical ICU, ECMO program and critical care flex teams.
Contributes to and executes the vision for promoting clinical excellence and program growth in a highly matrixed organization and competitive marketplace.
Collaborates and aligns with other leaders, both site and system based, to ensure high quality services are provided within professional regulatory and accrediting body standards. Drives vision and strategy that advance the strategic imperatives utilizing organizational process improvement methodologies.
Ensures overall clinical quality and safety that meets or exceeds national best practice benchmarks.
Partners with Advanced Practice Nurses, Physicians and other stakeholders to drive quality patient outcomes.
Accountable for viable financial performance including operating and capital budgets of the departments as assigned.
Ensures operations function at high levels of efficiency
Leads an environment that exceeds organizational goals for customer service.
Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.
Partners with the interprofessional team members leaders across the continuum of care, to achieve organization outcomes.
Oversees identified programs and departments as assigned (i.e. Stroke, ECMO, Diabetes, Transplant).
Partners in developing and administering policies and procedures.
Responsible to assist the VP/CNO with planning and management of initiatives and tasks which advance nursing strategic and operational work at a local and system level.
Leads teams based on mission, vision and values of organization.
Education: Masters degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or related field. If Bachelors degree is not in Nursing, Masters must be in Nursing.
Experience: Six years nursing experience, at least three of which are in a progressive leadership role in a healthcare environment.
License/Certification/Registration: Licensed Registered Nurse. Ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license at time of hire. BLS certification
Expereince: 3+ years experinece in critical care including either clinical and/or leadership experience perferred.
Education: Doctor of Nursing Practice
License/Certification/Registration: ANCC or AONL Certification
