This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 31, 2021. The initial cut off date for referral of eligible applications will be March 26, 2021, with subsequent cut off dates on a bi-weekly basis. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as needed basis until positions are filled. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives are authorized. Relocation Expenses (PCS) are authorized. The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (CNVAMC) is a two division, 1a, tertiary, medical school affiliated hospital. The Chief will be expected to manage three or more rehab physicians providing coverage and management of the 15 bed inpatient Medical Rehab and the 15 bed inpatient Blind Rehab programs as well as the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program which is currently a hybrid Level 4, seeking to be a Level 3. The ideal candidate is a Board-Certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, who will provide leadership and support to the Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine service to ensure achievement of the clinical and educational goals as well as applicable department performance measures are delivered. CNVAMC is affiliated with the Georgia Regent University (GRU), and incumbent should be qualified for academic appointments. Incumbent will provide oversight and leadership as the Chief, Medicine and Rehabilitation Provides guidance to a team of Physiatrists that act as rehabilitation consultants to other clinical staff, including nursing home care providers as well as providing supervision and direction with respect to patients receiving rehabilitation services in the inpatient rehabilitation program as needed Provides oversight of the TBI performance measures and monitors and refers to case management as appropriate Has extensive experience with pain management and is expected to provide guidance in the expansion of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) program, including expertise in CAM and/or procedural pain interventions Provide expert guidance in the performance of procedures such as electromyography, nerve conduction testing, trigger point and joint injections Ensures the most effective delivery of rehabilitative and medical services while meeting or exceeding compliance with Joint Commission, HIPPA, PHI and VA Central Office performance measure standards Is expected to follow each patient through the full continuum of care to include admission, discharge, performing histories and physicals, requesting/assisting in the coordination of rehab diagnostic and treatment modalities specific to each patient's needs Provides education and counseling of patients and family as appropriate Required to transfer and receive external Veteran patients from other facilities as appropriate Required to attend staff meetings, complete all required Talent Management System (TMS), must complete all medical documentation in a timely manner as directed by the Veterans Health Administration and local CNVAMC policies Must adhere to and follow all VA policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure patient safety and ensure high quality of care is provided to Veterans.
