The New York Harbor Healthcare System Department of Gynecology has an immediate career opportunity available in the Manhattan Campus state-of-the-art facility. We are currently seeking a Gynecologist to support Women's Health Programs, an integral part of the Gynecology Healthcare Team. NY/NJ VA Health Care Network (VISN 2) consists of Albany, Bath, Bronx, Canandaigua, Northport, Syracuse, VA Hudson Valley Health Care System (HCS), VA New Jersey HCS, VA New York Harbor HCS and the Western New York Health Care System (Buffalo and Batavia) and 46 community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). VISN 2 serves more than 500,000 veterans in 76 counties in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania offering a wide range of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical services. Services include primary and specialty care, nursing home care, mental health and rehabilitation services, and domiciliary care. VISN 2 medical centers are affiliated with numerous colleges and universities in New York and New Jersey. The selected candidate will follow established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs, their assigned station(s) and the profession. The specific duties of the position will be determined by the Gynecologist's Scope of Practice and will be discussed at the time of interview. Assigned Scope of Practice: Physician - Gynecologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: The Gynecologist assures the provision of high quality and safe patient care both in and outside the operating room. Clinical assessment of management of patients in Gynecology Clinics and Emergency room Performs Gynecology procedures in the outpatient clinic Initial evaluation and overall workup, H&P, and admission of GYN surgery patients Informs Veterans to the risks as well as benefits of upcoming surgical procedures Enters notes electronically in a paperless medical record system Provision of appropriate post-operative care Management of patients in the emergency department, inpatient units, medical imaging departments, and ICU Provides occasional consultative services to other service providers for inpatients and outpatients Works effectively with patients and coworkers Treats Veterans, Veteran's family members, and other healthcare professionals with respect and dignity Supervision of Advanced Practice Nurses, Physician Assistants (mid-levels) and other staff as required Participation in peer review and quality improvement activities is required to ensure quality of patient care consistent with VA regulations and Joint Commission standards Understands and abides by the Medical Bylaws of this facility Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery Supports Women's Health Program Provides education regarding Women's Health to Primary Care Providers Work Schedule: M-F 7:30am - 4pm (Part-Time) Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Application Reminder: It's highly recommended Application for Physicians - VA Form 10-2850 alongside with your CV/Resume.
