Christiana Care Health System is currently seeking a Registered Nurse for the GYN Oncology department at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center. In this role you will practice as a team member in the daily operation of the Gynecology/Oncology practice with a focus on chemotherapy administration and patient care management. You will provide nursing care, assume responsibility and accountability for gynecology oncology patients.
-Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to the gynecologic oncology population. This requires the ability to obtain and interpret information, to identify age-specific patient needs and to provide the care needed. -Performs and documents patient assessment following established criteria and office specific standards. Manage patient medication and chemotherapy administration safely and effectively. -Assess patient/family's learning needs and carries out teaching measures. -Manages patient medication administration safely and effectively. -Maintains communication to patient between physician, home care agencies and supportive care departments. -Screens, triages and responds to patient phone calls, reviewing and/or directing to clinicians as needed. -Schedules procedures and/or surgeries as needed.
Requirements: BSN preferred; Commitment to obtaining within three years of date of hire can be considered with relevant experience. Two years experience as a Registered Nurse required, experience in gynecology or oncology preferred. Oncology Nursing Society certification preferred. IV Certification and Chemotherapy administration certification preferred or to be obtained immediately upon hire.
